Connexus Energy has an exciting opportunity for a 2-year apprentice lineworker. As an Apprentice Lineworker you will assist our line crews to gain knowledge and experience in all aspects of safe construction and maintenance of our electrical distribution system.

Key Responsibilities & Results
Construct and maintain the overhead and underground electrical distribution system within the appropriate specifications, guidelines, and standards so that reliable service is provided in a safe and timely manner to our members.
Construct overhead lines including framing, setting poles, stringing conductor, hanging materials and electrical devices according to all specifications
Install primary and secondary underground electrical distribution system within the appropriate specifications, guidelines and standards
Plow and trench cable
Maintain the electrical distribution system to ensure its safety and reliability while minimizing any disruption of service
Repair broken equipment such as poles and conductors
Perform general troubleshooting
Perform appropriate repairs
Restore power in a safe and timely manner
Analyze situation that led to the power outage

Required Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education
Diploma from a certified Electrical Line Worker program
2-years' of employment with a utility or electrical contractor
2-year apprentice lineworker status
Currently enrolled in a four-year Power Lineworker Apprenticeship Program approved by the Minnesota Department of Labor with a minimum of two years completed
Current and valid Class A CDL Driver’s License with a good driving record
Current and valid health card
Certified First Aid and CPR training
Trained/able to perform bucket and pole top rescue
Certified in pole climbing for construction and maintenance
Ability to operate various equipment such as boom, digger derrick trucks and heavy equipment
Mechanical aptitude to work with machines and equipment
Ability to read and understand written work documents such as charts, diagrams, schematics and staking sheets
Ability to meet the physical standards of the job: Lift & carry up to 75 lbs.; Push/pull up to 150 lbs.; climb & work at heights that may exceed 60 feet
Commitment to customer service and ability to present a positive Connexus Energy image
Successful candidate will be required to meet the following conditions:
Normal work hours will occur anywhere between 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. with emergency or scheduled work on weekends, holidays or any time of the day
Live within a 25-minute response time to Connexus Energy headquarters
Become qualified for on-call rotation to handle emergencies that may occur at all hours of the day or night
