Position Summary: UNM's Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) provides seamless delivery of professional support services to internal clients using best practices in capital project planning, development, and construction. We provide comprehensive, strategic guidance on the institution's built environment, including campus master planning, programming, architectural development, building efforts and best design practices.
PDC has an exciting opportunity for a Structural Tech 2 to join our department. Reporting to our Supervisor of Construction, this position is responsible for reading blueprints, taking measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed, inspects buildings and conducts repairs and maintenance.
Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Attention to detail.
Working knowledge and experience with following oral or written work order procedural instructions.
Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
Extensive knowledge and proficiency in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers, etc.).
Experience following safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
