Wytheville Community College is recruiting for a Nine-Month Medical Laboratory Technology Program Faculty. The nine- month teaching appointment and leadership position in the laboratory science department is responsible for curricular delivery and program management. The position leads the department in a two- campus consortia program in clinical laboratory science to create a positive teaching and learning environment, which empowers students to reach their personal, career, and/or transfer goals and aspirations. The position teaches at the main college campus in Wytheville, but travels to the program remote site at Mountain Empire Community College as needed. The position requires the employment of a variety of instructional design and delivery methodologies, to include online course delivery with the Canvas learning management system and video conferencing with Zoom software. The position is responsible for maintaining program accreditation from the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), advising program students, student recruitment, teaching MLT and phlebotomy students (as needed), placement in and supervision of student clinical rotations, and development of a cutting-edge laboratory curriculum. Some evening hours may be required. The program headâs role encompasses the general areas of learning facilitation, personal and professional development, and institutional and community service. Primary responsibilities for this position are to: 1.Innovatively teach lecture/lab/clinical courses as assigned employing current educational technology with an emphasis on distance education via Collaborate. 2.Maintain program accreditation activities, reports, and submissions to The National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), as required. 3.Teach college level courses in medical laboratory content areas and phlebotomy. Teaching load of up to 15 credits per semester, which include distance-learning courses and on-and-off campus courses during the day, and evening, on weekdays and weekends. 4.Establish and maintain a student focused classroom/lab teaching and learning environment conducive to student success. 5.Design and implement teaching methods and strategies which complement lecture with lab instruction. 6.Implement student recruitment initiatives. 7.Advise students in course selection and requirements of the curriculum. Serve on department, division, and college committees. 8.Serve as a constructive and participative member of the Health& Occupational programs Division and the larger college community that yields world-class collaborative learning and student outcomes. Other duties included in this position are listed below. 1.Participate as a member of a teaching team, working collaboratively with other full and part time faculty to assess quality of instruction by reviewing and implementing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods where deemed appropriate: these may include collaborative learning, learning communities, service learning, instructional technology, distance and distributed learning, international education, and/or honors programs. 2.Demonstrated capacity to be future-focused and prepared to take this discipline forward into new areas of instruction and opportunity that may not currently be recognized or envisioned at this point in time. 3.Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs. 4.Participate in student recruitment efforts. 5.Use innovative teaching strategies in the classroom. 6.Demonstrate skill and knowledge in the teaching discipline. 7.Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives and inform them in a timely manner of their progress in the course. 8.Provide timely, quality access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods. 9.Serve as academic advisor to students in a proactive manner to assist in retention and program completion. 10.Develop and use a syllabus and calendar for each course or laboratory within college and departmental guidelines. 11.Acquire skills for teaching online courses and other emerging teaching innovations and delivery methods. 12.Mentor adjunct faculty in the discipline. 13.Serve on college committees as required. 14.Submit required college reports and forms. 15.Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and community members. 16.Participate in system/college/departmental professional development activities and attend meetings and/or committees created to facilitate professional growth and development. 17.Maintain active memberships in professional organizations recognized by and associated with the teaching discipline. 18.Demonstrate commitment to the philosophy of the community college, student success, and academic excellence. 19.Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 20.Demonstrate knowledge of computer applications/software as aids in the teaching and learning process. 21.Demonstrate commitment to multi-cultural and multi-generational diversity. 22.Serve as a community resource person and represent the college to outside groups as requested. 23.
