Essential Job Duties:
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the director of The Engineering Place (TEP) as a day-to-day operations manager and in implementing, administering, developing, and evaluating programs for K-20 outreach and engagement for the College, while ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment for all students who participate. Essential duties include supervising staff and student workers in administering and implementing programs; working with students, faculty, staff and other partners to build community; maintaining an ability to relate well to students, parents and others from diverse cultural backgrounds; coordinating specific outreach programs; collaborating with staff from engineering departments to implement joint programs; developing and implementing strategic plans for TEP in conjunction with director and perform other duties as assigned by director.
Additional responsibilities include interacting with corporate/industry partners to promote outreach programs; serving on campus outreach committees; survey construction, data collection, and proposal writing to determine the effectiveness of programs and solicit funding; traveling to conferences for presentations/professional development; working with engineering student organizations/leaders and departments to promote collaboration and program implementation. Other duties as assigned.
Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
A highly motivated self-starter able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Effective troubleshooting and creative problem solving skills
Excellent communications skills
Proficient in MS Office applications: Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint
Advanced degree in related field from an accredited institution. Experience with assessment and grant writing.
Required license or certification:
A valid North Carolina driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of start date.
