Prairie Power, Inc. an electric generation and transmission cooperative located in Jacksonville, IL is seeking a Superintendent of Operations.
Job requirements include supervision of operations personnel and contractors to ensure timely and safe completion of work; Ensures routine inspection of power lines, substations and equipment; Supervise and schedule testing, reading and maintenance of all revenue metering; Oversees fleet logistics, periodic inspection and maintenance programs; Responsible for training and development of personnel; Plans and oversees the Cooperative's right-of-way maintenance program; Assists with system studies and preparing departmental budgets, and participates in preparation of the Cooperative's 5-year work plans; Directs the restoration of service efforts during storms and other emergencies; Supervises the approved PCB plan and oil spill plan and maintains records of PCB disposal and oil spills as required by the EPA.
This is a regular full-time position working 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. This position does require overtime as needed.
Must possess an effective working knowledge of RUS construction and maintenance. Experience preferred in maintenance of electric apparatus equipment used in electric transmission systems, voltage regulation and metering. Must be able to understand and use spreadsheets, word processing and other programs/equipment provided by the employer now or in the future.
Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in electrical transmission and distribution systems construction and operations.

PPI is also one of nine public utility partners in the Prairie State Generating Company (PSGC), a limited liability corporation responsible for the ownership and operation of the Prairie State Energy Campus (PSEC). The PSEC is a 2 unit 1,600 megawatt supercritical electric generation station that came on line in 2012. PPI owns an 8.22% share of the output of the two units at PSEC, providing 130MWs of low cost, clean coal generation to PPI and its members.
