Boston University School of Law is seeking to hire a part-time lecturer to teach a class to its internationally trained LLM students during the spring 2020 semester: Strategic Contract Analysis. The three-credit seminar would meet once a week for two hours.
Strategic Contract Analysis
This course is designed to teach students how to take a strategic approach to the preparation, negotiation, and management of company contracts. In addition to possessing substantive knowledge and practical drafting skills, successful contract lawyers need to analyze contracts strategically. They need to integrate their client's systems and core values into their thinking. This is the optimum way to address the rapidly changing business environments in which clients operate -- and the best way to reach sustainable contract solutions. In this seminar, students will learn about the relationship between contracts and clients' myriad business considerations. Discussions and readings will cover such topics as risk shifting contract clauses; different contract management strategies; decision-making dynamics; risks characteristics; efficiency versus effectiveness; constructive conflict and dispute clauses; and negotiating strategies. This is not a contracts drafting class. Pre-Requisite: Contracts.
A JD degree, plus extensive experience handling a broad range of commercial contracts in collaboration with clients' senior business managers. A strong interest in teaching international, non-native English speaking students is required. Prior law school teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Applicants should email a letter of interest and a resume to the Graduate and International Programs Office at Boston University School of Law, at email@example.com.
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
