The Facilities department is a service organization dedicated to support the College's Mission and its various constituents in a proactive manner. We provide a wide range of services to efficiently operate, maintain and protect our facilities, grounds and infrastructure, in such a way as to create and sustain a clean, safe, functional and aesthetic environment conducive to quality learning, living and working, while preserving our College's physical heritage for future generations.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Basic carpentry functions including both rough and finish work both interior and exterior.
Door installation, repairs and maintenance including trim, refit, hinge adjustment and adjust or replace closures.
Install and replace ceiling panels and grid work.
Install hung items such as different types of dispensers, pictures, etc.
Assemble purchased furniture or equipment.
Erect partitions as directed.
Organize stock and hardware as required.
Utilize a computerized tablet utilizing the campus work order system to receive and complete work orders.
Understand and observe all safety regulations
Work as a team member with other members of the carpentry shop and the Facilities department.
Must always have neat and clean appearance with proper uniform.
Must always have a safe, neat and clean work environment.
Must always represent the Facilities department with excellent customer service skills and professional attitude.
Other duties as assigned be the supervisor.
5 years' experience in general carpentry
Extensive knowledge of power tools, including skill saw, miter saw and jigsaw as well as all common shop stationary tools
Capable of climbing on ladders and carrying at least 80 pounds
Excellent knowledge of general carpentry materials
Must be willing to work after hours and be willing to respond to calls when needed outside of the normal work hours.
Must hold a Massachusetts Construction Supervisors License
OSHA Training a plus
This position is 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, with hours typically ranging from 7:30AM-4:00PM, Monday - Friday.
This is a full time, non-exempt position.
