1.Work with the Corporate Services Team to develop strategic and tactical plans, develop project proposals, and implement business and industry training programs. 2.Collaborate with employers to assess training needs related to their organization's goals and develop customized training curricula and instruction to meet those goals. 3.Actively assess programs to determine effectiveness and meet all accreditation standards as defined by the college or the accrediting agency. 4.Recommend new program initiatives and oversee the development of new programs and courses. 5.Work with the Dean to develop and implement strategies to enhance the quality and effectiveness of courses and programs assigned to the Corporate Education Department. 6.Maintain professional competence of training vendors/products such as AchieveForum, DDI, Covey, VitalSmarts, KT, ACT WorkKeys. 7.Recruit, identify, orient, and manage part-time hourly instructors and/or contracted training vendors.
Sales and Account Management: 1.Prospect for new and repeat training business using a client relationship management process. 2.Conduct needs assessments with prospective clients. 3.Create training proposals and budgets for all training. 4.Negotiate, develop, and manage agreements and contracts in compliance with college and NC Community College System policies. 5.Manage North Carolina Community College System NCWorks Customized Training Program projects by reviewing eligibility, negotiating with business and industry clients to provide appropriate education and training; recruit qualified instructors; negotiate with instructors to provide training and establish training schedules. 6.Secure training facilities, equipment and materials, and coordinate registration process. 7.Ensure the completion of required paperwork for conducting classes, such as contracts, registrations, and rosters; evaluate instructor's performance; visit all classes and complete a record of on-site visits. 8.Ensure reporting and auditing requirements are met. 9.Manage customer/client follow-up system. 10.Build long-term relationships with clients.
Budget Management and Financial Accountability 1.Provide effective management of program budgets and work closely with the college business office to ensure fiscal responsibility. 2.Build relationships with other community development/partner agencies to identify sources of funding for training. 3.Generate revenue and growth, moving the department toward increased profitability.
Collaboration 1.Develop and sustain strategic business and industry relationships. 2.Participate actively on appropriate committees and task forces and in professional associations and organizations at the campus, regional, and state level. 3.Work with external entities, such as federal, state, and local agencies to build capacity for educational opportunities and/or strengthen partnerships. 4.Represent the college with local workforce development partners, business organizations, and economic development groups. 5.Pursue and maintain a positive, helpful, and constructive attitude and work relationship with supervisor, college staff, students, and the community. 6.Other duties as assigned by the dean, vice president, or president.
The position provides existing and prospective business and industry clients with information, training, consultation, referral, and other technical assistance to maintain, enhance, or improve their business success while working to further the mission of the college by providing business and contract training in Durham and Orange counties. The director is responsible for developing new prospects and interacting with existing customers to increase sales of corporate education products and/or services. Oversees curriculum design, the development of new classes and/or programs, and may plan special events or training workshops designed to meet the needs of corporate clients. More specifically, the duties and responsibilities are as follows:
Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited institution Working knowledge of the business and industry community within Durham and Orange counties Possess a valid driver's license Work Experience: Minimum three years of experience successfully planning, implementing, marketing, and evaluating corporate education/training Two years of administration and/or management experience Background in training and development, business planning, SalesForce or other CRM preferred Demonstrated experience in the preparation and management of budgets
