Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M) at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Systems Engineer – Maintenance Support. This position will provide engineering level services to develop, plan, schedule, and implement computerized Planned Maintenance (PM), support and integrate other labor, building systems, and equipment management programs. Evaluates current PM methods, products, and repair procedures and develops new and modifies existing procedures to minimize maintenance and repair costs. Reviews new, remodel, and capital renewal project plans for compliance with university guidelines to minimize future maintenance costs. Develops, maintains, and manages the external safety inspection services to maintain a safe working environment for the faculty, students, and staff. Provides technical support, warranty service support, and other troubleshooting expertise to shop personnel. Provides data analysis and report preparation of work management system data, supporting deferred maintenance and capital renewal processes.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of commercial and industrial building systems and equipment, the ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and systems manuals, and the ability to perform data analysis. The successful candidate will also have the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and to collaborate with multiple teams.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and related experience totaling 5 years.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering - Technical and programming experience with computer maintenance systems - Experience identifying and monitoring performance of building systems and equipment. - Design, construction, and/or building systems and equipment installation experience - Data analysis experience in work information systems - Process improvement experience
