The Port Authority Construction Management Division is currently overseeing approximately $900 Million per year work in place for the next 3 – 5 years.
Construction Site Safety Management is a critical component of our program delivery. Currently, safety management is handled in a number of ways, listed here not in any specific order: 1. The PA OCIP provider has safety representatives audit jobsites on a periodic basis 2. Contractors are required to submit their own health and safety plan and implement/assure that it is followed 3. The PA Operations Services Department has safety representatives visit our jobsites periodically 4. CMD’s PA and consultant field inspectors review site safety on a daily basis.
To further support our construction site safety management, the PA is requesting the services of a qualified On-Site Safety Specialist to provide daily and/or periodic reviews of its construction sites. The Safety Inspectors will report to the facility Resident Engineers and Engineers of Construction at all PA facilities.
The selected candidate may be required to perform the following tasks at a minimum:
Provide On-Site Safety Specialists – both short and long term.
Conduct construction site safety audits at facilities that include rail, marine, bridge, tunnel and Air Operation Area (AOA) work.
Conduct audits of facility operations work that interfaces/impacts construction site safety.
Confirm OSHA compliance of staff / site safety.
Confined Space Entry Monitoring.
Review safety plans.
Provide night shift and weekend shift inspectors/supervisors.
Interface cohesively with all other safety personnel.
Provide management of, administration of and reporting of all activities.
The selected candidate will be required to have available staff as listed below, to be available to work at the firm’s main office and/or at PA offices. Ability to get, SIDA Background Check at High Level. Valid driver's license required. 4 x 4 Automobile’s for full time staff required. All On-Site Safety Personnel must possess both OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 training and a valid NYC DOB 4-Hour Supported Scaffold User card.
Site Safety Specialists – Full time. To monitor construction sites in NJ and NY on a daily basis. Traveling to various facilities or stationary at one site, as needed. Periodic night work and/or weekend work will be required.
