This position is responsible for coordinating strategies for defining, deploying, and maintaining the in-house IP telephony voice communication architecture and its associated network connections and component hardware. This includes coordinating all engineering projects for VoIP initiatives, planning technology road maps, and configuring and optimizing all VoIP/IP telephone systems and services, both internally and those integrated with internet-based services. *Core Responsibilities:* * Instructs, directs and monitors the work of project staff. * Communicates expectations that are clear and relate to the goals and objectives of the department or unit. * Provides staff frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations as appropriate. * Provides guidance, technical leadership and training to ensure staff have the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish goals. * Ensures that the requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met, and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation. * Addresses and documents performance issues as they occur. * Reviews safety issues and communicates to assure a safe and healthy workplace. * Ensures that data infrastructure designs are clear, well communicated, and relate to the goals and objectives of the college. * Completes telecommunication projects by deadline with proper documentation. * Maintains all communication materials and supplies inventory. Ensure proper amount of materials and supplies are on hand. Make recommendations to the Network/Telecommunications Supervisor for new equipment or materials. * Performs site surveys, determine scope of work, materials required and estimate time needed for completion for projects and system upgrades. * Contacts vendors for pricing, writing specifications, and submitting requisitions to supervisor for approval. Act as project inspector for contractors. * Installs new and/or upgrade existing data communication infrastructure. * Tests newly installed systems utilizing current industry standards and document results. * Maintains, troubleshoot, and repair data infrastructure Assist Network staff in isolating, troubleshooting and repairing network and data communications infrastructure. * Maintains all communication materials and supplies inventory. * Ensures that voice infrastructure designs are clear, well communicated, and relate to the goals and objectives of the college. * Works with vendors and document all changes, upgrades, and installations. * Ensures major systems implementation efforts do not compromise systems or services. * Performs installation, troubleshooting and repairs on all voice over IP communication systems and equipment. * Identify, test, document, and maintain telephone infrastructure data. Maintain voice equipment to include Call Manager, Unity server voicemail system, and associated hardware. Monitor and identify capacity and performance issues for VoIP traffic to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of telephony systems. * Design and implement a Preventive Maintenance program for all campus VoIP and data infrastructure in consultation with the Network/Telecommunications Supervisor. * Conduct testing and develop disaster recovery plans to detect faults, minimize malfunctions, and backup systems. * Develops long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future VoIP telecommunications network needs. * Develops policies and procedures in a timely fashion. * Conducts end user training as needed. * Remain current on new CISCO products, services, protocols, and standards in support of VoIP telecom systems development and equipment procurement.
