To triage, prioritize and fill on-demand request for medical interpretation; and to receive, prioritize and designate resources to prescheduled assignments for medical interpretation.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performs the dispatch function receives incoming request for medical interpretation records request information ( Utilizing the computer system or written log) prioritizes and processes service request according to departmental procedures, dispatches ( Via mobile devices or pager) medical interpreters to handle the assignment, monitors the status and verifies completion of the task.
Utilizes CCHS and specific department patient treatment schedules in conjunction with on-demand requests to coordinate the provision of medical interpretation.
Reviews prescheduled and on-demand requests for service to assure tasks are handled according to established triaging guidelines as defined by departmental processes.
Evaluates each request with respect to the availability of resources of dispatched personnel feasibility of using telephonic or VRI interpretation and clinical needs.
Evaluates the need for personnel by analyzing the volume of daily request and assigns appropriate resources to cover the demand for medical interpretation. Resources include staff interpretation and video remote interpretation.
Maintains regular communication with area agencies that provide medical interpretation services in sign and spoken languages.
Creates schedules for casual ( per diem) sign and spoken language interpreters.
Supports a safe environment for all patients, visitors, and staff. Adheres to and ensures compliance with all CCHS policies and procedures emphasizing the promotion of safe confidential and accurate communication with LEP/Deaf patients.
Resolves and reports in a timely manner any unsafe communication with LEP/Deaf patients.
Maintains active communication with all CCHS personnel involved in or affecting services for LEP/Deaf patients to ensure delivery of services to customers
Maintain communication with management as necessary to assure quality and continuity of services according to all applicable standards.
Responds to inquiries and concerns of the staff and customer departments initiating prompt follow-up, documentation, and notification of others as necessary.
Support department and CCHS compliance with all State, Federal and Regulatory agency requirements, such that the facilities continue to meet standards for licensure and accreditation.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities condition, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees patients and visitors.
Performs other related duties as required.
SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS :
Daily contact with all levels of staff, language services agencies, patients, and visitors during dispatch activities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of six months working with Language Services dispatch preferred.
Dispatch and scheduling experience preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
KNOWLEDGE SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS :
Knowledge of medical interpretation methods/techniques and related services
Knowledge of dispatch and scheduling functions
Knowledge of Language Services scheduling software
Knowledge of CCHS and departmental policies, procedures, and standards
Ability to assess and evaluate interpretation needs and recommend effective solutions
Superb customer services skills
