Communications and Network Analyst Responsibilities
IT Construction's Communications and Network Analyst will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that enable communications connectivity at layer 1, the physical layer as well as wireless services such as a distributed antenna systems. Responsibilities of this Communications Distribution Designer will include user meetings, cost estimating, and creation of code compliant drawings. The ability to read and interpret construction drawings, submittals, and various communications test results is mandatory. This position will provide various levels of support to facilitate the installation of communications infrastructure. These tasks include permitting, public bidding and project management. Hands on repair of fiber and copper cabling as well as diagnosing wireless DAS systems performance is an expectation.
Communications and Network Analyst Qualifications
Knowledge of industry standards associated with a registered communications distribution designer.
Knowledge of electrical properties governing the transmission of electrical signals over copper transmission mediums.
Knowledge of optical properties governing the transmission of light over fiber optic cabling.
Knowledge of materials necessary to select an acceptable, electrical or optical, medium to obtain customer acceptance.
Skilled in testing copper and fiber cabling.
Registered Communications Distribution Designer BICSI Certification.
Skilled in developing division 16 and 27 specifications to convey necessary IT deliverables in a concise manner.
Skilled in developing criteria documents to convey IT deliverables in a concise manner.
Skilled in developing drawings to illustrate IT cabling deliverables.
Skilled in developing drawings to enable other IT teams to proceed with installation deliverables.
Skilled in writing documents used for bidding work for the University, such as scopes of work or RFP / RFQ publications.
Knowledge of Fire and National Electrical Code, as it pertains to IT deliverables, to guide and facilitate IT installations to fruition while maintaining building code.
Knowledge of asbestos considerations when working in hazardous environments.
Knowledge pertaining to the installation and termination of fiber, copper, coax, -Knowledge of electronic equipment pertaining to DAS and 70 paging systems.
