Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Theater Technician for Mason Gross School of the Arts.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Under direction, installs, maintains, and repairs electrical and production equipment used in the theater laboratory and in stage and other productions.
Designs and sets up the lay-out of stage and all related properties.
Maintains sound and light effects during productions.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a high school/vocational school education or equivalent; plus two years experience in the installation, operation, modification, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and computer generated production equipment, set construction, lighting, sound, stage, management, costume, make-up, and properties.
Must have the ability to group lead. Requires the ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats.
Must be able to communicate effectively.
May require a valid driver’s license, two years of driving experience, and successful completion of the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course.
College-level study in a relevant area preferred.
Knowledge of current theatrical sound equipment, basic electronic operation, control systems.
Video projection equipment, basic sound systems, Midas and Yamaha sound consoles, Q-Lab as well as being able to work in Vectorworks and other design systems and paperwork.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to work at heights on ladders and catwalks
