This position is the lead campus technical authority for cloud based information systems, cloud storage systems, cloud virtual network and identity integration, and plays a key role in data security of cloud assets. This position is accountable for leading the campus cloud based information system efforts related to the design and implementation of major cloud projects, providing planning and direction for current and future systems. This position will provide technical leadership with the mission critical design, implementation and administration of the campus cloud information systems. This position will ensure the various systems under the management of Information Technology Services (ITS) are planned, implemented, updated, maintained, operated and secured effectively and efficiently. This position will be critical to evaluate cloud information systems, software as a service, and cloud security architecture. This position will provide work direction and expert advice to other employees within the Information Technology Services Department in the analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance and administration of cloud-based systems in support of the academic and administrative information requirements and strategic goals of Bemidji State University (BSU), Northwest Technical College (NTC) and Minnesota State.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
Investigate cloud system technologies and establish recommendations and strategies aligning the technology fit for the campuses with the given cloud system for optimal utilization and efficiency. Develop cloud-based solutions that position the university and college to effectively meet current and future technology needs of the campuses. Assist in the integration of current and future systems while evaluating cost of ownership of these solutions.

Design, implement and manage the cloud systems. Ensure these systems provide easy access for all students, faculty, and staff while ensuring a stable service with well-communicated change management. Ensure proper bandwidth exists to maintain proper access while ensuring data security and associated risk mitigation. Actively monitor the cloud systems to ensure business continuity.

Provide advanced technical leadership to the Information Technology Services department in the design, installation, maintenance, inspection, and operation of the mission critical cloud services to support all hosted cloud information systems, virtual data communication and data security systems. Act as lead worker to the network manager, server managers and web developer. Drive change and lead the cloud vision and innovation within the campus and throughout Minnesota State by fostering an environment of technical staff who understand the college, university and system's vision, mission, and how their work directly relates to the success of the each.

Identify and implement processes that move future projects to the cloud. Work with management and Information Technology Services to adopt and implement a cloud first environment. Effectively communicate with campus to drive understanding and acceptance of cloud technologies.

Provide advanced system architecture, guidance, training, and instruction to system administrators, network administrators, server administrators, web developers and programmers to ensure cloud information systems change control and security practices adhere to Minnesota State standards.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in information systems, computer science or engineering, or a related field and 5 years of relevant IT experience; or 10 years of relevant IT experience
Demonstrated ability to plan and lead major IT efforts
Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and work direction to other IT professionals
Expert level knowledge of cloud services
3 years of experience working with cloud services
Advanced experience designing, implementing and managing complex and redundant information systems
Strong knowledge of network and information security including monitoring, detection and firewalls
Advanced troubleshooting skills
Project management skills sufficient to manage multiple projects simultaneously, create clear and attainable project objectives, build project requirements, oversee the cost, time and scope of projects, manage project constraints, and communicate progress and end results
Strong verbal communication skills sufficient to participate in discussions and communicate technical idea and procedures to technical and non-technical staff and managers and present recommendations and reports to management
Strong written communication skills sufficient to write, prepare, and edit materials such as memos, procedures, reports, presentations, etc., using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence construction and clearly explaining complex technical ideas and procedures to varied technical and non-technical audiences and management
Customer services skills sufficient to actively listen to and understand customer needs and provide accurate information and appropriate alternatives in a timely, thorough, courteous, respectful, and professional manner in person, over the phone and in writing
Experience with software engineering and cloud ready application development
Cost analysis and budget experience
Experience preparing and/or reviewing contract language with cloud service vendors
Cloud Certified (CCSP, CompTIA Cloud+, Microsoft, Amazon, or Cisco)
Working knowledge of programming languages (Python, Java, C#, etc.)
Demonstrated interest in and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
