Effectively designs and stakes all assigned multi-phase, single-phase line extensions and conversions, and fiber optic service lines. Provides all necessary staking functions for system extensions and relocations. Secures easement and right-of-way permits with other Utilities and government agencies.

Mentors and guides other Staking Technicians, employees and contractors, in the Staking area.
Effectively designs and stakes all assigned multi-phase, single-phase line extensions and conversions, and fiber optic service lines.
Maintains a current knowledge and understanding of RUS, NESC and any other applicable standards in order to effectively design and stake Habersham EMC distribution facilities.
Coordinates with members, developers, contractors and/or governmental agencies (in accordance with established guidelines) in order to provide for mutually agreeable conditions for facilities installations.
Accurately sizes distribution equipment, such as transformers, fuses, service conductor in order to effectively serve co-op and member needs.
Calculates project cost estimates for any request requiring Contribution In Aid to Construction (CIAC). Communicates this cost to the requestor and establishes payment process for project completion.
Makes appropriate recommendations to purchasing/warehousing personnel regarding out of the ordinary material requirements (specialized lighting, large transformers, 3 phase gear, etc.) upcoming on any project in order to allow for shorter completion cycles for projects.
Secures easement and right-of-way permits, as required, for facilities extensions, new services and relocations with other utilities and government agencies.
Determines need and obtains new easements from land owners, members and developers in order to ensure the proper installation of cooperative facilities.
Obtains information and knows federal, state and county government specifications for obtaining necessary permits.
Maintains familiarity with other utilities’ specifications for joint use, obtaining permits and encroachment evaluations.
Accurately completes documentation related to the staking/engineering function.
Accurately prepares written documents, including easements, contracts and cost estimates, as required.
Accurately updates/inputs data required for the electronic staking system.
Accurately prepares staking sheets, checks drawings and prepares all paperwork in accordance with Habersham EMC policies in a timely manner.
Ensures that all member complaints from the field within area of responsibility are responded to and resolved in a timely manner. Keeps supervisor informed of any unusual member complaints.
Provides technical assistance and guidance to GIS Specialists when necessary.
Required to be available for storms/outages/emergencies when necessary.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

Requires a High School Diploma/Equivalent.
Requires 10 years staking experience and the successful completion of an approved Staking Certification program.
· Requires a working knowledge of staking equipment and materials, RUS specifications, Habersham EMC policies and procedures, and National Electrical Safety Code Requirements for the construction and maintenance of an electrical distribution system.
· Requires the ability to perform all staking functions with minimum supervision.
· Requires excellent interpersonal skills for providing member assistance and secure necessary information; flexibility of irregular hours for assignment completion.
· Basic computer skills required, including Microsoft Office.
· Requires responsibility, ability to work well as a team member, and to work well independently.
· Requires a valid Georgia driver’s license.
· Requires the ability to satisfactorily pass Habersham EMC’s employment entrance examination and drug screen.
· Requires the flexibility to work during emergency situations.
Post-secondary degree in related field. Related degrees will be evaluated and count toward years of experience.
