POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Parking Manager is responsible for contractor oversight to ensure parking and shuttle operator(s) are in compliance with agreement terms and conditions. The Parking Manager must track expenditures, budget, customer service incidents, and perform a variety of analysis to ensure the products and services being provided meet LAWA’s vision of “Gold Standard” delivered. Additional duties include, but not limited to, drafting board reports, standard operating procedures, Request for Proposals/Bids documents, letters, providing recommendations based on industry standards and analysis, construction coordination as it impacts shuttle service or parking products, and preparing annual budgets.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of principles for providing excellent customer service, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, evaluation of customer satisfaction and recommendations for process improvements. Demonstrated ability to provide operations oversight for a highly visible Department consisting of multiple business units and discrete processes. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, web browsers and email. Ability to pro-actively identify complex problems and evaluates related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Ability to follow Division and Department processes, policies and procedures, and to comply will all state and federally regulated requirements. Ability to assign work to subordinate staff and ensure tasks are completed accurately, on time and within specified parameters. Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment and ensure that applicable deadlines are met.
REQUIREMENTS: The Parking Manager must have strong writing and analytical skills, preferably in parking and transportation and must be a team player.
Two years of full-time paid experience managing at minimum 2,000 space parking facility and/or at minimum 15 vehicle transportation shuttle fleet.
Bachelor’s Degree is required. Candidates with Certified Administrator of Public Parking diploma (CAPP) is highly desirable.
The Parking Manager position will be filled through an Emergency Appointment. An emergency appointment is not a regular appointment. It is a temporary appointment that may be filled up to a maximum of one year or until an eligible list is established (City Charter Section 1013) and a candidate is appointed. The Parking Manger candidate will have the opportunity to apply for a regular appointment. If the Parking Manger elects not to apply for a regular appointment or is not selected, then the employment will either terminate at the end of the emergency appointment, or may be terminated at any time, for any reason, while you are on emergency appointment.
