Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to provide essential administrative, project management, and specialty support services, such that engineering resources can focus on their primary deliverables in project management and can sustain engineering workflow processes. In this role, you will interface with project engineers, engineering management, design, construction, procurement, maintenance, and operations to meet project execution requirements. You will also share, implement, and work to continuously improve engineering support best practices across Engineering functional groups and with engineering partners. This position is necessary to improve consistency as well as drive efficiency and continuous quality improvement within the engineering organization. You will also be tasked with supporting new employee onboarding, as well as management of non-complex (purchase-only) and catalyst change projects. Finally, you may periodically be responsible for customized expediting of critical equipment.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Formula for Success
Leveraging your high school diploma (associate degree preferred) and experience using SAP, you will support multiple project managers by performing SAP enterprise management functions related to capital project execution, including project definition, budget and other data entry, purchase requisitioning, cost transfers, cost decommitals, and closures. You will develop SAP skills necessary to train all Geismar Engineering project engineers on a periodic basis.
Demonstrating your experience in administrative support within an engineering or manufacturing environment and your capability in database management (including report development and generation), you will provide project administrative support with respect to maintaining various project logs or databases, including extraction and compilation of data from those sources.
Your proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) will be beneficial as you develop, track, compile and issue reporting for process and project engineering resources, both as Engineering cost and KPI information, as well as capital spending reporting, as required for both Engineering and the partner business groups.
Successfully engaging across the organization with your strong interpersonal and teamworking skills, you will actively collaborate with other Engineering Support Specialists in Engineering to improve use of common disciplined work processes and to optimize capital project execution.
Utilizing your demonstrated ability to multi-task, manage multiple functions simultaneously, and your basic knowledge of accounting and cost control principles related to capital projects, you will directly manage some simple, less complex, low risk capital projects.
Proactively driving each project's procurement to completion by expediting and other actions, you will ensure that "engineered" materials are ordered, manufactured, and delivered in a timely manner to support the project schedule, and that invoicing and payments are handled in a timely manner. Additionally, you will provide customized expediting services to all site project managers for equipment orders above $1M and for selected critical delivery items.
Your strong attention to detail and organization & work process management skills will aid you in coordinating the onboarding process for new hires into the group.
