We are currently seeking a Lighting Designer to join the Building Group at our Main Office in Houston. This individual will work closely with the Building and Construction Groups to plan and oversee the implementation of lighting designs and light levels at our new and existing restaurants.
Responsibilities: •Collaborate with Pappas Building Group on implementing lighting and electrical designs. •Coordinate with design team on light fixture selections. •Prepare all lighting drawings and specifications. •Ensure design of code compliant lighting and lighting control systems. •Knowledge of sustainable lighting practices. •Create and manage light fixture and lamp maps for restaurant facilities. •Set up and manage light level controls in restaurant. •Manage purchase of light fixtures. •Conduct site surveys and restaurant visits to evaluate lighting elements and recommend updates. •Knowledge of or willingness to learn electrical design. •Willing to work with and be mentored by senior electrical designer. •Stay up to date with industry advancements and requirements driving lighting design. Incorporate these industry advances into design work.
Requirements: •3+ years’ of lighting design experience for commercial, restaurant, hotel or related industry •Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Lighting Design, Engineering, Architecture or related field required •Lutron experience •2+ years of Auto CAD experience (2010 or newer) •Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.), •A valid Texas driver’s license and clean driving record •Strong eye for detail, design and creative •Willingness and eager to learn •Excel at problem solving and troubleshooting •Collaborative and works well with others •Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi task •Outstanding written and verbal communication skills •Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications •Comprehensive understanding of local and state energy and building codes •Must be able to work well under pressure. •Must be able to lift 15lbs, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and climb a ladder. •Must be able to travel and negotiate the job site.
