Responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Southeastern Community College NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Program including practices, games, travel, fundraising, and recruiting, and any other duties related to the basketball program. Also responsible for coordination, facilitation, and supervision of: the SCC Student Board/Keokuk campus student organizations and the SCC Keokuk Student Apartments (including supervision of staff and communicating and enforcing apartment facility behavioral, safety and security policies and procedures). This is a twelve month live-in position in the SCC apartments in Keokuk, Iowa. This position is a full-time position (262-day contract); salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, with a starting wage of $32,000.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Learn and embrace the comprehensive community college philosophy, related Iowa Code, and the ICCAC & NJCAA policies and procedures. • Learn, apply, and role-model all SCC policies and procedures, including but not limited to the strategic goals and expectations of accountability within the Student Services Division. • Embrace and support constructive change; work efficiently and effectively to improve Keokuk Student Activities, Residence Life, the Women’s Basketball program and all related college operations. • Responsible for the monitoring of student-athletes academic progress. • Assist head coach in: o Planning and implementation of daily practice and game situations. o Practices, games, recruitment, fundraising, and monitoring of student-athletes (academic, eligibility, and behavior) o Individual instruction and skill improvement throughout the year. o Evaluation of prospective student-athletes. o Internal and community relations and any activities to enhance the overall image of the women’s basketball program. o Maintaining discipline and enforcing and encouraging acceptable behavior as expected through SCC’s conduct and academic guidelines. • Assist with all program and college sponsored events as directed. • Develop and facilitate recruiting materials and mailings for prospective student-athletes. • Oversee the operation of all student clubs and activities and work with all club sponsors/advisors regarding College policies and procedures related to student extracurricular organizations. • Initiate/approve/deny purchase orders, payments requests, travel requests/re-imbursements, and fundraisers of all Keokuk student organizations. • Monitor and administer the budgets for the respective areas of responsibility. • Develop, organize, promote and facilitate various campus-wide activities/events through the Student Board. • Organize and facilitate various intramural opportunities for Keokuk campus students/staff. • Provide information and service to students seeking to live in the SCC Keokuk Apartments. These services include but are not limited to: o Providing tours of apartment facilities to prospective students as needed. o Assisting with promotional events such as open houses, college visit days, etc. that promote the apartment facility to current and prospective students. o Designating apartment assignments for all new and returning tenant students and communicating said information in a timely manner. • Facilitate all paperwork related to apartment facility: student contracts, check-in and check-out forms, disciplinary reports, maintenance work orders, payment requests, etc. • Assist the SCC Business Office with follow-up of student payments until all are paid in full. • Keep current on all college student housing policies and procedures. Manage apartment facility to ensure student compliance with said policies. • Work cooperatively with SCC Maintenance Department to schedule timely cleanings and maintenance of apartments and general facility.
• Work closely with the college administration, student services, and maintenance staff to ensure an understanding of the security needs of the student apartments in order to provide a safe environment for all student tenants. • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate apartment facility staff in cooperation with the Residence Life Coordinator. Meet regularly with West Burlington student housing staff to discuss issues and concerns. • Develop and maintain a current inventory of all apartment furniture/equipment. • Other duties as assigned.
The Assistant Coach/Student Activities & Residence Life Advisor will abide by the employment contract and relevant policies and guidelines of the Board of Trustees.
o Associate’s Degree required. o Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Experience in: o Coaching women’s basketball preferred; preference given to college level coaching experience. o Student services and/or student activities within a community college setting preferred. o Experience in college housing or community living setting preferred. o Prior experience at a community college with specific experience in student services preferred. • Self-motivated, dependable, energetic and creative individual with leadership, planning, fund-raising, and public relations skills. • Strong human relations and interpersonal oral & written communication skills to interact positively with diverse personalities and populations. • Knowledge of computer software applications specifically Microsoft Office programs; ability to learn and develop competency in SCC’s administrative software (Ellucian). • Ability to: o Work effectively with students, colleagues, and community, and to assist the athletic and student services departments in general. o Handle confidential matters with discretion and perform with a high level of personal and professional integrity and ethics. o Comprehend and abide by NJCAA, ICCAC, and SCC policies, guidelines, and procedures. o Learn how to use and upload game film and stats. • Must have a valid driver’s license.
The Assistant Coach/Student Activities & Residence Life Advisor must have the ability and mobility to serve a rural area; travel is required. Individual must be able to work on a basis of “available as work demands” in addition to a fixed schedule. In addition, the individual in this position will actively promote a positive image for the college district.
