This position is responsible for managing the steam and chilled water distribution systems that consist of 6.5 miles of steam piping and 2.4 miles of chilled water piping and 145 underground vaults utilized to deliver steam and chilled water to campus. Oversees and directs four bargaining unit equipment maintenance staff and outside contractors to insure the proper daily performance of the system. Develops capital plans for strategic and reactive investment in the distribution systems utilizing data from the annual vault survey and thermographic system scan. Coordinates steam and chilled water shutdowns with University personnel and also the representatives of the outside customers. Manages the Dig Safely New York Automated Positive Response System and utility marking for these systems as required by NYS Code Rule 753. Coordinates the Summer Site Rep program where the Steam Station partners with SUNYESF to hire students within the Construction Management Program as interns who are assigned to specific summer distribution projects.
