Engineering Technician II - Data Management Specialist
Required Minimum Quals:
â¢ Two years post high school education in a related technical field including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and/or heating, ventilating, and air conditioning. â¢ Three years related experience, which includes regular participation in activities such as project planning, designing, ensuring code compliance, estimating project costs, investigating problems, recommending actions or similar tasks, or An equivalent combination of training and experience totaling five years.
â¢ Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and site drawings â¢ Experience with creating architectural drawings and renderings â¢ Experience creating building or building systems drawings with AutoCAD / Revit. â¢ Experience creating and managing AutoCAD / Revit Content and standards related to buildings or building systems. â¢ Experience with Space Information Systems â¢ Conformance experience with National CAD Standards
The Facilities Planning and Management Department (FP&M) at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for an Engineering Technician II. This position serves as the primary resource for document management on relevant systems, including Revit, AutoCAD, Building Information Modeling (BIM). Responsibilities include maintaining and updating all FP&M drawings and models by incorporating construction drawings from AutoCAD, Revit, and field verifications into Revit and/or Â AutoCAD for inclusion into the project filing and archiving systems. The Engineering Technician develops, maintains, and manages University CAD standards, AutoCAD and Revit content, participates in development of consultant BIM procedures, BIM execution plans and compliance verification of BIM deliverables with University standards. This position also assists the Space Planning Coordinator in assigning room numbers for all new construction or renovation projects; serves as a liaison between FP&M and other Iowa State departments, architects, engineers, consultants, vendors, and contractors on requests pertaining to floor plans and project documents; and manages spatial data collection, quality control and integration into BIM, CAD, and space management systems.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of customers. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential material with discretion is also essential to the success of this position.
