John Brown University, private, evangelical and Christian, seeks a faculty member to direct and teach the Master of Science in Cybersecurity. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching courses in several areas of cybersecurity such as ethics/cyber law, security policies and risk assessment, networking, security programming, security issues of operating systems, monitoring tools, and penetration testing. Department Head responsibilities include administration of course offerings, load management, adjunct hiring and other program needs. Other responsibilities include advising students, capstone project oversight, and serving on University committees.
Cybersecurity is a master’s degree program at John Brown University (JBU). This program is housed within the Division of Engineering and Construction Management. The program plan provides for the development of a high quality, regionally recognized degree path that will have appropriate external accreditation and associated assessment processes. This program strives to educate students and practitioners in ethical and technical needs for this important career path while representing God in service to humanity. This program is developed from a position of strength with educational pathways from both undergraduate studies and strong industrial support.
An earned doctorate in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Security, Applied Math or Cybersecurity is preferred; a master’s degree with work experience is required. Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, and SANs are a plus. This position will require a background check due to inherent security needs. Candidates should be willing to contribute to university life in areas such as academic advising, recruiting for the major, and committee service. The candidate should also be able to clearly articulate the integration of the Christian faith and science.
