FUNCTION The position is responsible for planning utilization of space and maintaining accurate spatial allocation information for daily operations and special events. The Director of Facility Utilization will provide recommendations on best use of space, perform field verification of builds, and produce and maintain drawing sets, blueprints, and other documentation related to these activities. Role will include design or peer review of new construction projects, building and grounds maintenance projects, and temporary installations for events.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES •Works collaboratively with all stakeholders to manage space resources, infrastructure, and facility capacities. •Responsible for production and maintenance of a document library of all facility site plans, seating manifests, construction documents, building blueprints, and other associated documentation for Churchill Downs Racetrack. •Owns and implements appropriate version control, retention, and document sharing standards for these documents. •Works collaboratively with all internal stakeholders to recommend and support the strategic plan for facilities renovations and modernization. •Works collaboratively with all stakeholders to create and mature facility site plans for Derby Week and other events, including recommendations and oversight on best use of space. •Performs field verification of permanent and temporary builds for occupancy and architectural conditions, and updates this information on master drawings as required. •Conducts crowd flow modeling and capacity analysis to assist with site plans, inventory management, emergency operations plans, staffing plans, and commodities planning daily and for Derby Week. •Conducts pre-build site surveys and acts as liaison with municipal utilities to ensure proper marking and easements for permanent and temporary builds. •Facilitates RFPs and contracts for specialized design services, and serves as a consulted to the installation team during Derby Week. •Design or perform peer review of new construction or capital improvements.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises Code Compliance Manager and maintains responsibility for the daily direction, coordination, and execution of maintenance work. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Will assist management to plan, assign, and direct work and appraise performance. Address complaints and resolve problems.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, Facilities Management or related discipline from an accredited four-year college or university preferred.
Registered architect required.
Five (5) years previous experience required.
AICP certification preferred.
Candidates must be proficient with Autodesk Software (AutoCAD/Revit) or similar; prior experience with BIM, CAFM, & GIS software tools preferred.
Proficient in MS Suite - Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
