The Office of Facilities, Safety and Physical Plant at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Construction Site Representative. This is a one year renewable term appointment. Expectations include monitoring and oversight of SUNY Oneonta construction projects.
The Office of Facilities, Safety and Physical Plant ensures that the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of buildings, infrastructure and grounds support the mission of the College by providing a safe, functional and aesthetically pleasing living and learning environment for students, faculty and staff that comprise our campus community. Duties include but not limited to: functioning as an on-site representative for SUNY Oneonta, State University Construction Fund (SUCF), and the architect/engineer on various construction projects as assigned; assisting in the planning and design process of SUCF projects; working with faculty, staff, and design professionals in development of those projects; during construction, overseeing contractor compliance with contract drawings and specifications; monitoring contractor progress; responding to contractor questions; review of contractor administrative work/payment requests on behalf of SUCF/SUNY/consultant; management of project close-out and warranty duties as required; other project related duties as assigned.
Required qualifications: bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering or related field and 5 years of field experience managing construction projects - OR - associate's degree in architecture, engineering or related field and 10 years of field experience managing construction projects; demonstrable working knowledge of applicable building codes, laws, rules and standards regulating design and construction; demonstrated knowledge of project specifications, plan drawings and other construction documents including submittals and shop drawings.
Preferred: over 5 years' experience and expertise in mechanical and electrical building system design and construction; effective written communication and presentation skills; ability to work with minimum supervision; computer literacy in Microsoft Office products; experience working with and serving diverse populations.
