This position will perform all distribution modeling studies, load studies, voltage drop, capacitor placement, load balance, feeder optimization, and fault current analysis for a distribution power system. Distribution modeling and design of integrated micro grids, with renewable energy and distributed generation is a primary focus. Work with engineering and operations staff for estimating and design of system upgrade projects. Practical field experience is necessary.
Responsible for Annual updates to a Five-Year System Upgrade Plan to include specific voltage drop, capacitor placement, load balance, feeder optimization, and fault current analysis and results. Will monitor substation and feeder conditions and distribution protection schemes to advise operational staff when changes are necessary for effective loss management and outage management of the system. Will monitor and manage the efficient utilization of micro grids integrated with the distribution system, establishing standards and reporting results of renewable energy and distributed generation saturation. Will organize presentation to provide periodic updates of the distribution system and planned upgrades. Will be an effective communicator to provide brief updates as necessary. Responsible for the Geographic Information System software and data integrity. This position will monitor the GIS to ensure accuracy and maintain the interface between the GIS software and Engineering Analysis software programs. Responsible for the interface between the GIS software and Accounting software. Will require a strong background in electrical overhead and underground construction assembly units.
Electrical Engineer (B.S. Electrical Engineering) or Professional Engineer with System Planning Experience. Familiar with Milsoft WindMil Engineering Analysis software or similar Engineering Analysis modeling software. Familiar with Milsoft LightTable TCC Analysis software or similar software for coordination analysis. Trained in ESRI GIS maping software. Particular focus in Trimble's Utility Center software or similar software. Experience with SCADA systems for collecting and analyzing data for modeling software. Experience with SCADA systems for collecting and analyzing data for modeling software. Experience with micro grids with both renewable and distributed generation. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the positions. Must have a valid driver's license and pass Drug Screening.
