Albright College, a liberal arts college in Reading, PA, is seeking an Assistant Dean of Online and Digital Learning. The Assistant Dean, under the general supervision of the Provost working very closely with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), provides vision, strategic and operational leadership related to instructional design support and solutions for all academic programs at Albright College. The Assistant Dean will intentionally seek and advocate the use of innovative and high-impact learning technologies in the curriculum. This will include supporting faculty instructional delivery through online, onsite and numerous multimedia courseware, software and other learning technology acquisitions. This role is responsible for developing instructional standards benchmarked using industry best practices. The Assistant Dean will provide guidance and strategic oversight to direct and indirect reporting staff, including the use of technology to support all aspects of instructional design. Incumbent in this position will serve as a key business partner to College leadership while developing an extremely high collaborative relationship with academic departments.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide leadership, management and accountability for the staff of the of Digital Learning and Innovation department.
Facilitates instructional design constructs and manages the production process especially the online, hybrid and OER-related curriculum.
Creates institution-wide instruction standards, quality assessment, and effective administrative practices as it pertains to digital instruction.
Infuses innovation into the development of instructional designs as well as faculty training, assessment of the learning tools, and utilization of technology.
Develops training programs which deliver faculty professional development opportunities.
Serves as the web content and data steward for the department by maintaining internet/intranet presence to provide key services and operational offerings for faculty and students.
Oversees the development and maintenance of an online repository and web presence that provides resources on current best practices, innovations, and emerging trends in online/blended learning.
Provides staff leadership to the instructional design team including personnel management, staff development, and providing an engaging and supportive work environment.
Assists with the preparation of the annual departmental budget and monthly review of expenses and variances.
Maintains appropriate records and data to produce performance and external reports, when needed.
Participates in relevant policy and planning committees.

Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of constituents including management, coworkers, users, faculty, students, and vendors.
Significant knowledge and experience with best practices in instructional technologies
High-level organization acumen and ability to manage vertically
Experience working with Canvas is desirable
Outstanding verbal and written communication and ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with key constituents.
Strong talent assessment, management and leadership development
Data driven decision-making
At least 2 years of experience in supporting instructional design and technology at an academic institution.
Demonstrated entrepreneurial approach to online program development at the graduate and undergraduate level.
Master’s degree required
