The intern will assist with maintaining the Christiana Care Fire and Life Safety program. This Program is a combination of numerous integrated components. These components must be maintained effectively to provide facilities that are free of the hazards of fire.
As an intern, you will attend various meetings/committees such as Environment of Care (hospital safety), lab safety, construction progress and emergency management with the Life Safety Specialist.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance of Christiana Care Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression systems.
Conducting fire drills which exercise Christiana Care emergency plans.
Inspection of construction projects for safety compliance.
Inspection of emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, AEDs, and eye washes.
Respond to carious emergency events including fire, hazardous materials incidents, confined space rescues, medical assists, or any other emergency situation at Christiana Care facilities.
Healthcare, construction and office environments. Conditions normal to active demolition and construction projects are encountered frequently. Exposure to weather conditions can be encountered during inspections and response to emergencies.
A.S. in Fire Protection or related engineering discipline (in progress).
