Title: Communications Systems and Joint Use Technician
Reports to: Supervisor, Communications Systems
Department: Information Technology Services
Purpose: To ensure that NGEMC’s joint use agreements are effectively managed. This includes make ready, make right, National Joint Utilities Notification System (NJUNS) and other related joint use topics. To assist with the deployment of NGEMC’s fiber optic communications networks.
High school graduate/equivalent with business related course work.
Minimum of two years’ experience in the operation and engineering sections of telecommunications distribution networks. Experience in design, construction and installation of fiber optic communications networks is highly preferred.
Effectively manages the National Joint Utilities Notification System (NJUNS) or other Joint Use Notification System.
Ensures that NJUNS tickets are entered properly and managed timely.
Provide status reporting of NJUNS tickets to Management.
Ensures transfer charges are invoiced and transfer of ownership letters are sent when applicable.
Perform field audits to verify the correct status of NJUNS tickets.
Assist Management to ensure joint use contracts are effectively managed.
Assist Management in development of company standards that apply to joint use.
Assists other Departments by providing information or working on assigned projects.
Assist with the design of NGEMC’s fiber optic communications network.
Assist with the constructions of NGEMC’s fiber optic communications network.
Perform fiber optic fusion splicing and other tasks related to the deployment of NGEMC’s fiber optic communications network.
Other tasks and duties as assigned
Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills for effective interaction with other personnel and joint use personnel.
Demonstrate competency in identification of telecommunications field installations and devices.
Flexible and adaptable to changing work situations and priorities
Demonstrated expertise in all office procedures and practices.
Demonstrated proficiency in different personal computer operating environments.
Excellent planning and organizing skills with minimal supervision.
The ability to learn North Georgia EMC’s policies and procedures.
The ability to obtain and/or maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
The ability to satisfactorily pass North Georgia EMC’s pre-employment, post-offer physical
examination and drug screen.

Field work and general office environment; requires the flexibility to work irregular hours for assignment completion; requires the ability to work during emergency situations and availability during inclement weather.
