Possessing significant working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC trades, the Maintenance Worker shall plan and perform worker level preventive maintenance and make corrective repairs and/or modifications to building systems with a minimum amount of supervision. Follow all University safety rules and regulations at all times.
The incumbent performs the following duties and responsibilities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Perform basic general trades work including carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC and mechanical equipment repairs, restoration and installations.
With minimum supervision complete preventive maintenance work on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems such as changing filters and belts along with lubrication of equipment.
Work independently off written and electronic work orders from a CMMS System and accept responsibility for work assignments. Documents records of maintenance activity in an automated work order system (Maximo).
Ensure proper care in the safe use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Assist other shop members in more complex work projects.
Assist in job set-up, including the delivering of material and cleanup of completed projects.
Possess the ability to read and understand basic technical and construction related documents (drawings, equipment manuals and specifications).
Available to respond to emergency call-ins on campus and available for before or after-hours work as needed.
Possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written.
When snowstorms occur, the term helper is a “Critical Employee” who is mandated to augment the Grounds Department in the removal of snow and the de-icing of walks and steps.
Other duties as assigned.

Possess basic computer literacy or the demonstrated ability to learn computer basics.
