The Facilities Maintenance Program Technician supports the Preventive Maintenance Program to provide a safe and sustainable facilities operating environment by tracking assets and planning the preventive maintenance of machines, tools, vehicles, equipment and utility systems.
The position works with the Facilities Management Team, Shop Managers and Leads to develop scheduled maintenance programs and processes to minimize impact on stakeholders. This position works with Capital Projects and Construction to track new and removed assets and equipment and update the asset database and preventive maintenance schedules accordingly. In coordination with Managers, this position evaluates the need for replacement parts and may place orders. The Program Technician ensures that preventive maintenance and asset records in AiM, the computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) used at Portland State University, are consistently maintained, updated and tracked to continuously improve the accuracy of the information. The position utilizes the data to generate reports to evaluate the effectiveness of the Facilities preventive maintenance program.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance; or a Bachelor's degree in electrical, instrumentation, or mechanical engineering or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate with tradespeople, project managers, contractors, student employees, and campus leadership.
Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, including ability to gather detailed information, organize it, and prepare it in a systematic way.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job as mentioned in Working Conditions.
Possession of a valid State-issued driver's license.
Successful completion of a background check.
Work productively within a team environment.
Ability to produce and analyze basic statistics and metrics.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions, drawing, manuals, and other equipment and systems documents.
Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System(s) (CMMS).
