This Network Engineer II will be responsible for:
The analysis, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Children's wide-area and local area networks.
Using network management techniques to ensure that the networks are performing as designed.
Determining the need for network management tools, and participating in their design, development, and implementation.
Maintaining knowledge of the state of the art developments in network management and recommending new technology when appropriate.
Designing, constructing, and maintaining Hospital networks. Being a technical resource for other Network Analysts and Technicians.
Supporting Children's wide area network, Ethernet LANS, and the ongoing maintenance of network infrastructure.
Creating and maintaining documentation to facilitate the operation and maintenance of the various networks.
Potentially representing the Network Manager or Children's hospital at meetings, seminars, problem situations.
To qualify, you must have:
The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field and three years of previous network experience.
The analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems OR design relatively complex systems and programs that cross department/divisional lines.
The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
Experience with Cisco Switches/Routers (configuring and troubleshooting):
Experience troubleshooting applications interaction at the network layer (e.g. HTTP, SSL, TCP, etc).
Load Balancing troubleshooting with ACE or F5.
Experience with NMS (Network Management Systems) tools. Prefer SMARTS but an understanding of HP Openview, Cisco Works, or other NMS tools is a good foundation.
Experience writing scripts such as Perl, PHP, Python, Shell.
Working knowledge of Linux (including installation and deployment of Linux servers as well as utilizing Linux as a tool for network management).
Experience with Firewalls/VPNs (configuration, deployment, troubleshooting).
Experience using network analysis tools such as wireshark, tcpdump, netflow, and to determine flaws/problems encountered.
