Instrument Technician (2001514) - Wyandotte, MI
BASF is seeking an Instrument Technician for our Wyandotte, MI, Cellasto Manufacturing Facility. The Instrument Technician position is a afternoon shift. The Technician is responsible for repair and maintenance of the Instrument and Electrical equipment encompassing the plant switch-gear installations, electrical and pneumatic system, Servo motors and frequency drives, PLC controllers and AC / DC drive controls and Robotics. Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints and computer logic to trouble shoot production problems and resolve them.
Perform process control, sensing and monitoring system calibrations and record keeping.
Work with other team members, engineers and production personnel to complete job task, breakdowns or machine redesigns to improve/resolve production needs.
Support, maintain and improve the plant MPI programs to maintain equipment reliability.
Responsible for requisitioning replacement parts from plant inventory as well as obtaining outside sources to replace, upgrade or implement new equipment designs.
Ability to work a flexible schedule and respond to call-ins and impromptu overtime on days, nights and weekends.
Actively participate in plant safety meetings and procedures for lock-out, line breaking, safe work, and hot work. Ensure all contractors adhere to BASF safety standards.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You...
High School Diploma or GED
A minimum of 2 years' experience in chemical plant instrumentation maintenance / construction - OR - completion / near completion in the BASF Maintenance Scholarship Program or similar program
Basic computer literacy: Windows operating system, Lotus Notes e-mail and databases, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Excellent safety skills. Must comply with OSHA and plant-specific safety procedures.
Related work experience in reading loop sheets, electrical interconnect drawings, ladder logic drawings, equipment and process instrumentation diagrams (P&&IDs) and knowledge of prevailing electrical codes.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Experience with troubleshooting and repair of variable frequency drives is desired.
Experience with SAP computerized maintenance management system.
In addition to the basic requirement of being able to install control wiring, the ability to work on power wiring up to 480V 3-phase is an advantage.
In addition to the basic requirement of being able to calibrate and maintain a wide variety of instrumentation, experience with air / water measurement equipment such as turbidity, conductivity, explosive gas detection is an advantage.
