Job Summary: The RSC Engineering Technician assists with the design, development, testing, and fielding of aerospace systems, high-speed digital design, and/or radar signal processing systems for the Remote Sensing Center.
Additional Department Summary: The Junior Electrical Engineer Technician is in the Remote Sensing Center on the University of Alabama’s Tuscaloosa campus. This position will involve digital hardware and systems architecture, signal processing, big data, aerospace applications, and integration of aerospace, science, and electrical systems into high performance aircraft and surface vehicles.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Vocational/Technical/Trade School certificate and five (5) years of aerospace, electrical, or electronic experience; or Associate's degree and four (4) years of aerospace, electrical, or electronic experience; or Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of aerospace, electrical, or electronic experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Must be comfortable working in an engineering laboratory setting. Must have strong interaction and communication skills between scientists, engineers, and students; must be proficient in remote sensing systems and applications, programming systems, circuitry design, Microsoft Word and Outlook; and CAD or technical drawing experience in CATIA, SolidWorks, or equivalent is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience with electronic circuits design and build and aircraft electronics is desired; experimental aircraft electronics operation or construction, and any license or training is beneficial. CNC experience is beneficial.
