SUMMARY The Equipment Manager for the Golf Course Maintenance Department coordinates and oversees a comprehensive maintenance program under the direction of the Golf Course Director of Agronomy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. In addition to the following duties and responsibilities, other duties may be assigned:
Keeps all equipment in efficient, operable condition at all times
Organizes and maintains a clean service and maintenance building
Sets as a primary goal a preventative maintenance program
Performs related tasks as required
Places safety procedures as a number one priority
Procedures supplies, parts, and materials within budgetary limitations
Repairs transmissions, differentials, carburetors, distributors, fuel pumps, steering systems, starters, generators, universal joints, hydraulic systems, and high pressure pumps and valves, installs and adjust brakes
Installs batteries, wiring and glass
Does machining or welding work in making fittings used in automotive equipment, does occasional automotive painting or body and fender repair
Maintains records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, orders and time worked
Does mower grinding/sharpening
Hands on position
Communicates with the Director and Superintendent any needs or problems relating to maintenance or repair of equipment
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Clubs policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training staff; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates.

Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and schedule appropriate mechanical maintenance work; able to train, motivate and effectively direct the assistant mechanics safe efficient manner
Keep needed records related to equipment repair and preventative maintenance
Maintain effective employee relations
Knowledge of the theory, care, and operations of internal combustion engines and/or mower grinding, sharpening, and adjustment.
Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles & schedule preventative maintenance work
Staying abreast of the latest technology by reading technical trade journals, visiting other golf courses and attending equipment seminars or field days when possible
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of High School education preferred. Working knowledge of light and heavy construction in maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus. Skill in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools and in the making of various types of mechanical repairs. Through knowledge of the operating functions of all equipment.
