Alterman, Inc. has an opening for the position of Audio-Visual Systems Estimator. The A/V Systems Estimator will develop and prepare cost estimates for projects of varying sizes and complexity. This position will report to the Senior Technologies Estimator and be an integral part of the overall company’s estimating process to help maintain the company’s quality standards, competitiveness, profitability and growth.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Receive and track potential Audio-Visual Systems bid and budget opportunities for the Technologies Department.
Analyze and interpret construction bid documents, drawings, and specifications (architectural, audio visual, electrical, interior, telecom, etc.) to help determine and weigh the potential bid’s validity and continued pursuit as a Go / No-Go opportunity.
Accurately capture and quantify A/V Systems material and labor associated with the project. Confirm manufacturer brands to be used and prepare bill of materials to be sent out for competitive price quotation.
Accurately input all relevant take-off information into applicable software to finalize estimated material and labor sub-totals.
Prepare recap / summary sheets using the estimated sub-totals. Assist with final assembly of estimate for review by the Senior Technologies Estimator and / or Division Manager.
Prepare proposal letter and / or an RFP response package to include all specific A/V bid dollars, project inclusions, and specific exclusions to be submitted by the required solicitation date and time.
Work assignments can include assisting with preliminary budgeting for Owners, Customers, Engineers, Pre-Construction and Contract Managers throughout different phases of the design process (conceptual, SD, DD, and CD documentation).
After successful award of a bid, the A/V Estimator will participate in project kickoff meetings between estimating and project management. The A/V Estimator will be responsible for preparing a package for turn-over to the Technologies PM which will include but not limited to; proposal letter, bid summary, estimated takeoff of equipment, materials, programming, labor, sub-contractor quotes, etc.
The A/V Estimator will help process project quotations and tabulations as to price, terms, delivery, and general conformity with requirements of the bid inquiry and project specifications.
Perform other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned.
A minimum of 3-years of related A/V Systems experience or a combination of applicable education, industry certifications, and mechanical aptitude and understanding.
Self-motivated individual with an above average attention to detail and ability to communicate, coordinate and work well in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work calmly under pressure and still produce quality bids by given dates and deadlines.
Effective participation in a team environment with both internal and external collaboration.
Excellent math, reading, writing, organizational, communication and verbal skills.
Working knowledge of construction trade terms, codes, means, methods, and processes.
Knowledge of A/V Systems to include (analog & digital media systems, wireless microphone systems, projector/screen systems, sound reinforcement, sound masking, DSP, Control, and basic networking)
Computer skills with a basic working knowledge of office programs such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Ability to use Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam Revu to create, edit, manage, manipulate, print and view construction documents preferred, but not required.
AVIXA / InfoComm CTS, CTS-I and / or CTS-D certifications preferred, but not required.
