The Solutions Architect is responsible for guiding our business technology roadmap outlining the value driven to CoServ by solutions provided and proposing how to add features and enhance future value. The Solutions Architect will be a part of the IT-Enterprise Applications Organization working closely with IT and Business peers. The Solutions Architect will provide assistance, advice and guidance thereby ensuring that solutions continue to deliver value at a reasonable cost.
The Solutions Architect will support the IT – Enterprise Applications team’s vision “To be trusted by our customers as Industry Experts delivering value through best practice systems and processes.”
Primary Position Responsibilities
Align the customer's business needs to the native application functionality and construct a development plan that will deliver the desired solution
Acquire and maintain a deep knowledge of the core business processes and best practices in the cooperative utility industry - enhance that by acquiring an understanding of the specific business drivers for CoServ’s programs.
A collaborative and empathetic relationship with the business stakeholders will be central to this role. The commitment to their success should never be in doubt.
Work with internal fusion teams, vendors and developers, helping them convert the business requirements into technical activities and verifying that their deliverables satisfy the acceptance criteria.
Be a key channel back to the CoServ product owner team as they look to drive innovation and improvements into future releases of CoServ systems.
Provide technical leadership and expertise on system architecture, application design, implementation, and integration.
Maintain effective working relationships with the other departments and individuals that Information Technology supports.
Act as motivator, innovator, and champion in the promotion and adoption of new ideas, techniques, and technologies.
Prepare and deliver presentations related to overall solution architecture.
Develop, track, and report on various metrics.
Complies with established CoServ safety and operating rules, procedures and guidelines including reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor.
Complies with established CoServ Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines including reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support.
Education and Certifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Applied Technology or related field.
3-5 years working in a solutions architect role or equivalent
Demonstrable ability to show how technical architecture affects business value
Extensive utility industry knowledge with an eye towards the future
Ability to link process to technology
3+ years of experience in the cooperative utility space
Experience leading teams focused on customer service and delivery
Skills and Abilities Required
Understanding of IT landscape, applications and business processes within the utility industry
Engaging with clients in understanding their requirements, scoping, discovering and defining solutions, explaining business benefits/value and use cases and a roadmap to meet their goals
Identifying integration points, migration requirements, security and maintenance aspects within the industry
Formulating Industry specific designs and documentation to assist the business case/ROI process
Creating innovative solution designs that adhere to corporate standards

Control industry solution requirements, scope, and change management issues and proactively manage project risks, issues, dependencies and changes.
