South Central Indiana REMC is seeking qualified applicants for a Staking Tech B position. This is a full-time position who will be a responsible for a designing the distribution plant needed to provide electric service to SCI’s members. Staking Techs will work closely with our Fiber construction crews as well to provide the best service to our members.
Our ideal candidate will be a team-player who is trained in electrical or electronic engineering or has completed the apprenticeship program for Journeyman Line worker or has obtained equivalent knowledge. Knowledge of NESC or NEC standards is a plus. He or she must be able to track and document property easements, communicating professionally and effectively with property owners/members. He or she will be able to work independently and take ownership of the responsibilities.
The specific objectives for this job includes:
responsibility of staking functions and inspection of new and/or existing single phase and three- phase electric service as requested by members and system improvements as assigned;
providing engineering recommendations based upon current NESC and NEC standards to fellow employees and
using opportunities to develop member support, understanding, and acceptance of the Engineering Department activities as they pertain to membership.

EDUCATION: Two years of college or technical school in electrical or electronics engineering, or completion of an approved apprenticeship program and attainment of Journeyman Lineman status.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years’ experience in a public contact position with related job duties, such as engineering, electrical, survey, or journeyman lineman preferred.
Must have the ability to design requested services and to prepare staking sheets and material sheets for work orders, based on a review of the Service Order Request and a field inspection of the site.
Must have the ability to estimate the cost of a new service to the consumer and to the Cooperative.
Must be very proficient with operating a personal computer to obtain and analyze customer information using engineering and mapping software.
Must be capable of communicating actively with management, employees, members, personnel from other organizations and the general public.
Must be able to work effectively on a daily basis with a variety of individuals.
Must be regular in work attendance.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
