To design, survey, and stake electric distribution lines in accordance with RUS, GA DOT, and/or Coweta-Fayette EMC’s specifications.

Effectively and accurately performs the following functions:

  • Prepare and/or interpret staking sheets, work sketches, system maps and all other records that may be required in accordance with the most effective and efficient construction procedures and specifications.
  • Obtain all necessary right-of-way easements, damage release forms, and other documents as required.
  • Ensure that all assigned tools and equipment are in safe and operable condition.
  • Immediately report and/or correct any violations of safety rules or procedures as established by the National Electric Safety Code and/or CFEMC’s safety rules and regulations.
  • Design, survey and stake underground dig-ins, security light work orders and service orders, overhead service drops, and pole changes.
  • Investigate and tag NJUNs tickets.
  • Assist Staking Technicians and Senior Staking Technicians in surveying and staking of distribution line extensions, distribution line equipment, DOT highway projects, and construction work plan projects.
  • Design, survey, and stake underground dig-ins, security light work orders and service orders, overhead service drops, and pole changes, electric distribution lines and equipment in accordance with applicable construction and engineering specifications.
  • Design and stake DOT highway relocations, major tie-lines, work plan jobs, and service to large commercial and industrial developments.
  • Design and layout service to subdivisions and other residential developments.
  • Communicate with Warehouse Manager to assure an adequate inventory of equipment, material, and supplies necessary to support the construction of all staking sheets.

  • High School graduate or equivalent course of study certification.
  • Requires compliance with all DOT regulations and a current driver’s license.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with all levels of the public and cooperative personnel.
  • Must be able to work with electronic spreadsheets, word documents and other programs/equipment provided by the cooperative now and in the future.
  • Must be able to communication effectively both in written and verbal format.
  • Must be able to problem solve and make decisions within the policies of Coweta-Fayette EMC.
  • Required to have 4 years’ experience as Staking Technician for a total of 8 years in line design or equivalent.
  • Must have completed NJUNS Training.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to initiate and complete projects with little supervision.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of mathematics.
  • Must have completed a URD Design class.
  • Must have completed GDOT Permit Training Course.
  • Appropriately identify 95% of all RUS assemblies.
  • Must have completed a level 4 or equivalent staking certification program.
  • Must have completed an NESC Training Class.
  • Must have completed a RUS Work Order Accounting Course.
  • Required to understand poly phase metering requirements.
  • Must be able to initiate and complete projects with no supervision.
  • Must be familiar with Coweta-Fayette EMC’s service territory and the Georgia Territorial Act.
  • Must demonstrate clear understanding of continuing property records and proper coding of work orders in accordance with RUS procedures.
  • Must be familiar with Georgia DOT standards; able to accurately read and interpret Georgia DOT site plans; be familiar with Bentley Redline software.
  • Must be familiar with joint-use contracts.
  • Must be familiar with Form 219 Inspections.
