Purchasing and Fleet Specialist I

Summary/Objective At an entry level, will assist in fulfilling all the duties related to procuring material, supplies, equipment and services for the construction, maintenance and operation of KAMO facilities and KAMO fleet. Duties may include requisitioning, procurement, receiving and distribution, physical inventory as well as compliance.
Essential Functions Assist with requesting quotations and work with suppliers and KAMO personnel for purchase of material, equipment and services. Review requisitions and specifications for the preparation of appropriate purchase documents. Assist in preparing purchase orders, bid invitations and contract documents ensuring fairness, integrity and fundamental ethical practices. Assist in maintaining accurate records and contracts, which provide an audit trail and ensure efficiency. Assist in negotiating with vendors to obtain quotations, prices and delivery times for materials, supplies, equipment and services. Review invoices for accuracy and warranty eligibility. Maintain databases, prepare reports and respond to requests for information. May assist in maintaining KAMO fleet in accordance KAMO requirements, DOT and government mandates, including recordkeeping and compliance. Prepare entry level journal entries and supporting schedules to record accounting and financial activities for KAMO. Assist in account reconciliations and data verification/validation.

Knowledge General knowledge of proper procurement procedures, material handling practices, fleet maintenance administration, accounting procedures. Knowledge of electrical apparatuses, including substation components, telecommunication equipment, transmission line hardware, fleet and equipment.
Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Capable of effective communication both orally and written.
Abilities Need to be organized, detailed oriented and a self-starter. Ability to communicate and coordinate ideas and concepts with peers, superiors and supervising managers. Must have good interpersonal skills to interact with all KAMO employees, member systems, other utilities and vendors/suppliers. Ability to adapt to changing business circumstances and handle multiple tasks. Ability to work in team environment.
Experience & Education Associate’s Degree or two (2) year technical degree in related field is preferred. Zero (0) to two (2) years’ experience in purchasing and inventory procedures. Equivalent industry experience may potentially be considered toward substitution of degree requirements.
Licenses Maintain a valid driver’s license. Any restrictions will be evaluated based on the nature of the job. Forklift certification a plus, but not required.
Equipment Effectively use equipment such as, but not limited to: calculator, fax, copier, scanner, barcode equipment and personal computer. Ability to operate a forklift preferred.

Position Type/Expected Work Hours This is a full time position. Requires flexibility to work irregular and extended hours for assignment completion and emergency situations.

Additional Salary Information: All applicants will be considered and this position will be filled at the appropriate grade pay level according to the experience and qualifications of the selected applicant.
