What you’ll be doing...
The Director of Business Pricing will be responsible for developing pricing concepts for Business Wireless and FiOS pricing strategies for all product sets that will drive incremental revenue growth across the Verizon Business Group. The Director must have a broad range of skills that include the ability to think strategically about competitive price moves across a diverse set of customer types (i.e. large enterprise, business markets, and public sector) and consider market-specific nuances and practices for a global practice.
Key challenges include:
Voice of the Customer: Analyzes and uses qualitative and quantitative data; extrapolates pertinent trends impacting business performance and incorporates understanding into decision criteria.
Strategic Insights:Understands and utilizes economic, financial and industrial data to accurately diagnose product strengths and weaknesses, as well as able to analyze and act on threats and business opportunities.
Competitive Intelligence:Solicits feedback from all channel and functional directors on competitive challenges in marketplace and concurrence on strategic and tactical recommendations. Develops scenario and tradeoff analyses based on competitor pricing models and value drivers.
Strategic Planning:Defines a strategic roadmap to support future commercial and pricing decisions. Develops longer-term pricing strategies to mitigate against revenue threats and to reduce churn. Develops pricing strategies to meet the needs of the Business Group by driving incremental growth and revenue, mitigating against revenue threats and reducing churn.
Concept Ideation:Develops concepts for new product pricing in support of strategic pricing transformation. Ensures that strategies are integrated in to Marketing plan and align with corporate and brand profitability. Position acts as a subject matter expert providing strategic pricing leadership, working with multiple stakeholders and providing insights for pricing analyses and decisions. Creates informed assumptions as to the impact of pricing recommendations (e.g. customer growth, price plan mitigation), as well as the opportunity cost of deferring action (e.g. churn, reduced activations), in evaluating profitability. Works cross functionally to understand emerging technologies and market trends and develop requirements to meet those needs.
Executive Alignment:Leads presentations of business cases to senior leadership and ensures preparation of financial models for implementation of pricing decisions. Possesses and articulates defendable points of view on key pricing areas such as pricing capabilities, pricing models and revenue models.
Performance Management:Develops measurement criteria to assess performance (e.g. activations, churn, migration, usage, revenue). Work with IS/Data Warehouse team to implement systematic tracking and reporting of results.
What we’re looking for...
The successful candidate must be a change agent with deep experience developing strategy and implementing new pricing programs that have achieved measurable results. The Director will be analytical and fact-based, with a deep knowledge and understanding of the latest tools, technology, and best practices in pricing and profitability management. The Director will have at least ten years of experience with product pricing, analytics, and financial modeling in a business environment that would require an emphasis on pricing.
·Deep experience in assessing market sizing, potential revenue opportunity and business case development.
·Excellent understanding of product marketing principles.
·Ability to understand the business context and competitive landscape, in order to develop pricing strategies that are aligned to the business objectives.
·Ability to gather and analyze data, estimate the value of products and services, and translate complex analytics into simple and actionable pricing guidelines for business units and functional team.
·Deep experience working in a business segment environment.
·Proven track record developing effective pricing strategies.
·Understands long term business and financial implications of day-to-day decisions.
·Looks “around the corner” for opportunities and obstacles.
