The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine, one of the nation’s newest and most innovative medical schools, located in beautiful Las Cruces, New Mexico invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean of Enrollment Services. Burrell College graduated its inaugural class in May of 2020 with a 100% residency placement and is seeking to continue its pursuit of excellence with the identification and hiring of an energetic, dedicated individual to lead the offices of Financial Aid, Admissions, and Registrar. The College’s mission is to improve health education and healthcare in southern New Mexico and throughout the southwestern U.S. by increasing the number of physicians trained in this region. The ideal candidate for the position will have strong leadership experience and a demonstrated proficiency in at least two of the three area(s) of admissions, registrar, and/or financial aid in a medical educational institution and will also have demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with students from underrepresented backgrounds (see Burrell’s Mission and Vision). The successful candidate will have a clear vision of shared governance and the capacity to foster positive working partnerships with key institutional faculty, staff, and administration and a record of success as a medical educator. The Assistant Dean of Enrollment Services will report directly to the Dean of the College, Dr. William ‘Bill’ Pierrat, and provide leadership in the coordination of student recruitment, retention, and support initiatives within the context of the College’s strategic plan. Enrollment Services encompasses three departments and includes a staff of ten (10) individuals currently serving approximately 648 matriculated students. The individual selected for this position will function as a member of this collaborative team and is responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures relevant to enrollment services. The Assistant Dean will ensure financial aid optimization, alignment of enrollment management initiatives with funding practices, and compliance with all federal and state regulations related to student aid funding and student record retention.
