The candidate will mainly be responsible for supporting the development of Group-wide IFRS 17 accounting requirements and application guidance. The candidate will work closely with members of different work streams within the Project Halley from Group Office and business units (BUs), and support Group Integrated Reporting team for transition production and parallel run.
Background:
Project Halley is the Group-wide project for the implementation of IFRS 17 and IFRS 9. The technical workstream is developing Group accounting policy and associated application guidelines to be implemented in local business units. It will work closely with local business units and support them in the implementation of the new standards.
Scope of Work:
The candidate will mainly be responsible for supporting the development of Group-wide IFRS 17 accounting requirements and application guidance. The candidate will work closely with members of different work streams within the Project Halley from Group Office and business units (BUs), and support Group Integrated Reporting team for transition production and parallel run.
Key responsibilities of the candidate include:
Draft Practical Application Guidance (PAGs) and support the development of Methodology Specifications (MSs)
Review PAG assessments results from business units (BUs)
Support BUs and other workstream on resolving IFRS 17 issues from technical perspective
Develop transition-specific assumption-setting framework and guidance
Engage with auditor to agree on AIA's accounting position
Supporting parallel run activities such as constructing opening balance sheet, review the parallel run result from BUs etc.
Supporting lobbying activities if any, e.g. HKIISG etc.
Assisting in other Project Halley assignments where necessary.
Requirements:
Strong actuarial methodology, accounting and insurance products knowledge
Knowledge in current reporting basis (including IFRS 4, EV, EC etc.) and IFRS 17
Fast learner and be able to quickly get up-to-speed with the requirements in IFRS 17
Strong analytical skills and be able to clearly present results systematically and logically
Team player with good communication skills
