1. | Develops and implements processes, within assigned teams, through orientation, training, and education to ensure that the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, improved, and demonstrated throughout their employment. |
2. | Develops systems and provides feedback to the Director to monitor the effectiveness of drug distribution within assigned areas of responsibility. |
3. | Develops and, with approval, implements programs, systems, and services to provide drug distribution and clinical services that meet or exceed national standards for patients at Allied Health Solutions. |
4. | Formulates and refines systems used in the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients. |
5. | Directs the activities of staff, within assigned teams, and monitors performance, clarifies work expectations and promotes cooperation among individuals and groups. |
6. | Directly supervises staff practicing in areas of primary responsibility. |
7. | Performs personnel functions such as interviewing, hiring and performance management of direct-report employees. |
8. | Ensures that policies and procedures related to drug distribution are followed. |
9. | Investigates and studies trends and developments in pharmacy practice; develops policies and procedures and operational manuals; introduces new products and procedures to staff within their assigned teams and responsibilities. |
10. | Assures the development of policies, procedures and other orientation and training materials to support clinical and operational services. |
11. | Identifies, seeks approval for and with approval implements new products, technology, and procedures to improve clinical and distribution operations. |
12. | Works with the Director to determine product standards and assure compliance with national standards and regulatory requirements. |
13. | Works closely with Director to ensure staff are following policies and procedures to adhere to accreditation standards for specialty pharmacy. |
14. | Assists in the preparation of the annual budget for the Department of Pharmacy; monitors budget and other financial indicators during the year. Assists in the development and implementation of plans to control costs and improve departmental operations. |
15. | Assists the Director in the preparation of the annual labor, non-labor and capital budgets as requested. |
16. | Develops, and with approval, implements systems to promote effective use of pharmacy resources. |
17. | Assists the Director of Pharmacy to develop and maintain performance improvement indicators and programs to improve quality of service and optimize patient safety. |
18. | Works to develop, implement and effectively respond to performance improvement indicators that routinely assess pharmaceutical services and promote improvement in the quality of services provided. |
19. | Assures adequate and timely submission of data and reports for performance improvement activities. |
20. | Active member of Clinical Oversight and/or Quality Management committee. |
21 | Establishes systems to encourage effective communication and working relationships between pharmacy employees and other healthcare professionals. |
22. | Takes a proactive and innovative approach to problem identification and resolution. |
23. | Maintains professional knowledge and skills by active participation in continuing education activities. |
24. | Maintains professional society involvement (local, state and national). |
25. | Precepts pharmacy clerkship students and WVUH Pharmacy Practice Residents. |
26. | Assumes role of Pharmacist in Charge if appointed by the Assistant Director/Director |
