General Statement of Job The Carpenter performs routine periodic maintenance functions, in-house construction projects and the construction and installation of cabinets and casework. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duties: Lays out buildings on defined site plot. Performs fabrication and setting of concrete forms. Assembles and handles scaffolds as necessary. Constructs walls utilizing wood and metal stud walls and associated trim work. Installs ceiling systems. Installs VCT tile, baseboard, stair treads. Installs and maintains Locks and Hardware. Fabricates and installs cabinets. Assists the supervisor in the development of cost estimates as needed to support facility requests for campus projects. Assists the supervisor in the facilities review process by performing annual inspections and providing information for the facilities inventory system. Assists the supervisor in the formulation of plans and specifications to be used in preparation of bids for acquiring services, contracts and items to be purchased. Other duties may be assigned. Education, Experience, and Licenses High school graduate or GED required. Extensive experience in basic carpentry, construction, cabinet making is required. Valid Driver's License and ability to meet the University's insurance requirements for driving University vehicles. Journeyman carpenter license preferred.
