What you’ll be doing...

You will be mentoring with a team that engineers, implements, and coordinates activities associated with utility infrastructure and construction. Specifically, telecommunications Outside Plant (OSP) fiber optic network infrastructure and construction. This team leads and directs engineering projects, engaging appropriate internal and external organizations with professional written/verbal communication skills. The team proposes solutions supported by sound engineering and operational productivity to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.

• Manages projects with specific focus on deliverables, tasks and due dates, conveying timelines, risks, delays and impacts to management.
• Recognizes vulnerabilities in network infrastructure and makes calculated financial decisions to implement remedies that enhance reliability within budget limitations.
• Prepares detailed cost analysis, project specs, spend forecasts, route mapping, requisitions, and business justifications.
• Determines scope, budget and schedules, then monitors and controls expenses within allotted budget.
• Coordinates engineering construction activities with contractors, developers, municipalities and consultants.
• Processes reports, vendor invoices, material receipts, and other administrative duties.
• Provides oversight and management of multiple construction vendors.

As a strong communicator, you can quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and you are open to learning complex technical issues and resolutions to problems.

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

• A degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• Two or more years background experience in utility engineering, construction, GIS (preferably in telecommunications).
• Experience with windows-based programs and corporate database systems.
• Experience with CAD, and MS Excel / MS Access.
