The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HSHSL) is currently recruiting for a Building Coordinator . This position coordinates building operations (170,000 gross sq. ft.), serves as a liaison between university facilities staff and the tenants of the building, coordinates small to medium projects, arranges meeting room set-up, and handles event scheduling at the HSHSL/UMB. This position represents the Library at renovations and construction project meetings and serves as an Emergency Warden for the building.
The Building Coordinator may be required to work a flexible schedule including a few evenings per month to manage events. This position may be required to respond as needed to emergencies during times the HSHSL is closed. This position reports to the Associate Director for Library Administration and Operations.

Coordinates small to large building projects from development to completion. Monitors work of trades personnel and contractors. Reviews construction drawings and creates drawings as needed for room set-up, and other renovation needs.
Coordinates building facility maintenance, building access. Works closely with the HSHSL housekeeping supervisor and team, maintenance, and security staff regarding building specific/safety issues. Identifies and resolves building-related issues for all tenants.
Manages the acquisition of services, equipment, furnishings; replacement and/or repair of furniture, carpet, signage, etc.
Initiates work orders for cleaning, maintenance, telecommunications, and electrical shop services for all facility-related maintenance.
Develops, generates, and maintains databases and reports on space utilization, patron/tenant satisfaction, room and event scheduling, and other required records. Compiles reports concerning work status, downtime, and delays.
Verifies all drawings of the building are properly updated when renovation projects take place by verifying data, physical space characteristics, and following-up with the proper divisions on campus to ensure the updates are documented and the Library has access to the most current drawings.
Provides back-up support to the mailroom in the absence of the Postal Services Supervisor including receiving deliveries, posting mail, boxing books, and operating hydraulic and pallet jack equipment.
Performs annual in-depth inventory of building furnishings, creating a template for annual use. Conducts review of capital assets inventory on a semi-annual basis, correcting inventory issues and updating records as appropriate. Removes surplus property accurately following the UMB Excess Property procedures.
Performs administrative duties as needed, arranging work schedules, set-ups for special meetings, and arranging logistics for incoming gallery exhibits and special events.
Organizes events and facility usage to ensure client satisfaction through consistent delivery of quality and service. Confers with clients before, during, and after events maintaining a positive relationship, and responds to inquiries and requests.
Coordinate the pre-event, event, and post-event workload to include security plans, setup reviews, switch-overs, vendor deliveries, custodial attention, and staffing, and A/V production.
Serves on relevant HSHSL and UMB committees.
Coordinates HSHSL building Emergency Wardens.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field of study.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in building/facilities operations, general services, or other related fields.
Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.
Hiring Range: Commensurate with education and experience
Salary: Mid to high 50's
