![]() Automotive Mechanic Title: 618M-YN - Automotive Mechanic Business Title: Automotive Mechanic Location: Employee Type: Classified Job Family: Civil Service - OT Eligible Position Details: Summary of Duties: Perform the repair and service of automobiles; vans/panel trucks less than 15,000 GVW, motorized farm equipment and heavy construction equipment, heavy trucks and power generators, hydraulic systems, and diesel engines. Required Qualifications: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an automotive or motorized equipment mechanic; or, full journey status as an automotive or motorized equipment mechanic in a union; or four years of applicable work experience. Possession of, or ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid driver's license. Possession of, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, an Authorized Emission Specialist certification. Possession of, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, a Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning certification. Preferred Qualifications: Front end alignment experience using modern alignment machines. Possession of, or ability to obtain at time of hire, a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Oxygen/acetylene and Arc and/or wire feed welding experience. Three years experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
