Gull Lake Country Club is a full service 18 hole private club located on the banks of beautiful Gull Lake, about 15 minutes from Kalamazoo and Battle Creek.
The right candidate for this opportunity is self-motivated, team player, who comes to work each day looking to improve themselves and the operation. Must be willing to communicate with the Superintendent and other staff to achieve the desired goals. A good attitude with a desire to learn and grow within the industry.
Assist the golf course Superintendent with the daily operations and scheduling.
Perform standard golf course maintenance duties, including fertilizer/pesticide applications, irrigation and drainage repairs, construction, and course set-up.
Train staff how to perform their task safely and efficiently.
Perform daily inspections of the golf course to evaluate turf conditions for quality of play and performance.
Maintain communication with the Superintendent, staff, and the Professional staff as needed.
Assist the Superintendent in administration, project planning, and execution.
Manage the Nimbus II Rainbird Irrigation System.
Communicate with the Equipment Manager to ensure equipment is ready for use and organized and cleaned at the end of each day.
Enforce and follow rules, safety guidelines, and company policies.
2- or 4-year degree in Turfgrass Management (or currently pursuing one).
Previous experience in golf course maintenance.
Proficient knowledge of irrigation and drainage systems.
Supervise, motivate, and efficiently manage a TEAM.
Flexibility to work overtime, every other weekend during the peak season, holidays that fall on your schedule, and annual men\'s invitational tournament.
Experience with spraying fertilizers/pesticides, calibrating equipment, and knowledge of turf products.
Current MI State Pesticide Applicator\'s License or can obtain one within 6 months.
Active golfer and knowledgeable about the game of golf.
