The Studio and Broadcast Engineer provides support for all studio resources employed in broadcast transmission, such as digital audio workstations, hard drive playout systems, audio mixing systems, and their associated equipment, including Apple and Windows computers. This position will specify for purchase and install new equipment as needed. This position will repair and maintain studio and field equipment as needed, including headphones, microphones, and associated recording equipment, and be proficient in low voltage wiring. The Studio and Broadcast Engineer will be required to work on-call 24-7 for support on a rotation basis with the Chief Engineer and the Assistant Chief Engineer. The Studio and Broadcast Engineer will provide assistance on special projects such as remote broadcasts and new studio or transmission facilities as assigned by the Assistant Chief Engineer.
Essential Functions:
Equipment repair and testing
Equipment and software installation
Instruction and assistance to operations staff
Remotes and special projects
On-call evening and weekend support
Bachelor's degree preferred. Relevant broadcast or technical experience may substitute for education
Management Information Systems; Computer Sciences: Society of Broadcast Engineering (SBE) certification at the CRBE level is desired
The candidate must have a valid driver's license
The candidate requires a strong background in computer skills, including computer construction, repair and configuration of personal computers, Windows and Macintosh, up to file servers
Basic understanding of computer interconnection and networking is required
Understanding of legal and technical requirements of the Federal Communications Commission that govern radio broadcasting is required
